Schlossberg and Clock Tower
If you only do one thing in Graz, go to the top of the Schloss (castle) and see the most stunning views of your life - and do it during Aufsteirern to see the incredible Tracht street fashion show. In addition to the famous Uhrturm clock, explore the gorgeous park, have a glass of wine in the Aiola Upstairs restaurant, find the secret well, and get lost. Oh, and definitely see the gazebo where Joe and Katherine got engaged! Accessible via elevator, an alleged funicular that Katherine and Joe have never been able to find, and for those seeking a calf workout they'll never forget, stairs (with lots of places to pull over and rest on your way up!)
Graz Cathedral
It's difficult to overstate how stunning Graz's main cathedral is. Free to visit.
Stadtpark
Stadtpark is the city's gorgeous main park - and will be home to many Aufsteirern events. Don't miss the stunning sculpture garden and Katherine's (literal) favorite place in the world - the Waldlilie statue.
Kunsthaus Graz
AKA "The Friendly Alien," Kunsthaus is Graz's modern art museum and architecturally, a huge point of contention. Some people love it, others hate it, most can't decide. Almost more famous than the museum itself is the restaurant and shop inside of it. Be sure to check out the neighboring "Snail" on the river!
Mariahilferkirche
The Graz Cathedral may be the most famous church in Graz, but Katherine will die on the hill that Mariahilferkirche is the most beautiful and peaceful. Everyone on the guest list has had a candle lit for them at this church at some point! An ideal place to sneak away from the celebration and reflect - or just enjoy a few moments of silence and relaxation in a beautiful setting. Plus, it's in the heart of Graz's "cool" art district
Glockenspiel Graz at 11 AM, 3 PM, or 6 PM
See the Graz Glockenspiel clock, which puts on a "show" every day at 11 AM, 3PM, and 6PM. Time needed to see attraction: 5-10 minutes
Hofbäckerei Edegger-Tax
This is a world-famous bakery that's the oldest family-owned bakery in Graz and one of the oldest in Austria. It's so good that during Emperor Franz Joseph I's stays in Graz, Franz Tax supplied the pastries for the imperial court.
Tribeka
Tribeka is Graz's local coffee shop, with a few locations around the city - though Katherine and Joe like this one best. Take drinks "zum mitnehmen" (to go), or stay and chat with locals.
Bar Ernst Fuchs
Gorgeous and ultra-glam cocktail bar inside the Palais Hotel Erzherzog Johann in the city center. Dress Code: High Glam - this place is incredibly popular with locals.
Das Promenade
The perfect place to stop for a coffee or snack after a stroll in Stadtpark - dine al fresco or indoors.
Royal Garden Jazz Club
A little live music? Old-school jazz bar in a cave with classic cocktails - where a 20-something Katherine spent a lot of time. Call ahead to ensure there's space before you go.
