The Ferry Building hosts an amazing farmer's market every Saturday from 8am-2pm with wonderful vendors! We used to love walking down to the farmer's market on the weekend for breakfast or lunch when we lived in SF. It's an easy (but steep) walk down to the Ferry Building from Nob Hill (just go straight down Sacramento Street or California Street -- you'll even get to walk through Chinatown on your way down). Be sure to explore the vendors inside of the ferry building as well for some local favorites!
Katherine's favorite salad in the world! A wonderful fast casual restaurant with several locations throughout SF. We used to eat here multiple times as week when we lived in SF and it's always our first stop when we are back in the city. Katherine loves the chicken salad with kale only, while Dominic opts for the pork salad. A side of fries with various greek yogurt sauces is required!
Located in San Francisco’s historic Jackson Square, Cotogna is an Italian restaurant known for housemade pastas, spit-roasted and grilled meats, and seafood roasted in the restaurant’s wood-burning oven. One of our favorites!
Dumpling Time presents Asian dishes reimagined with local, California ingredients in a playful, fine-casual atmosphere. One of our favorites when we lived in the city! We love the lamb dumplings, the pork xiao long bao, the BBQ pork bao, the chicken sui mai, and the dessert bao are a must!
La Mar celebrates the authentic and diverse flavors of Peruvian gastronomy, a tour through Peru’s incredible cultural diversity. Located on the Embarcadero, we highly recommend getting an outdoor table to overlook the Bay Bridge and the Bay. We love the ceviche, the saltado nigiri, the california causa, and so much more!
Hands down the best breakfast burrito in the city! An easy walk from the Fairmont and the other hotels on our block.
An elevated casual restaurant located on Divisadero Street serving fresh, house-made cocktails and eclectic New American dishes for sharing or full meals. We love the burger and the cocktails!
Busy, no-frills Mexican eatery and late night joint serving comfort food like tacos and burritos in the Mission neighborhood. Nothing compares to picking up a burrito from Taqueria El Farolio and eating at Dolores Park!
If you are looking for pizza in SF's Italian North End neighborhood (a short walk from Nob Hill), look no further than Tony's!
Located in the basement of the Fairmont, the Tonga Room is a fun tiki bar. It's open on Fridays until 11PM, so feel free to head down after our welcome party for a tropical nightcap if you are so inclined!
The best ice cream you will ever eat! There are two locations, one in Hayes Valley and one on Fillmore Street. We love the Fillmore Street location, which is surrounded by great stores to browse while you eat your ice cream.
Pick up a coffee from the Philz Truck on the Marina Boulevard and walk along the marina out to Crissy Field Beach or up to Fort Mason to enjoy views of the Golden Gate Bridge!
If you are able to extend your trip, we highly suggest heading up to Napa/Sonoma to explore California's world-renowned wine country. If you want to visit Napa Valley, we recommend driving along Napa's Main Street, which spans several cute small towns with a ton of wineries, as well as cute restaurants and boutiques. For wine tasting, we love Charles Krug and Alpha Omega. Bouchon Bistro and Bottega are great places to stop for a bite! If you go to the Sonoma Valley, head to Healdsburg, home to a great square with lots of tasting rooms and restaurants (Troubadour is a highlight in this square!). We also love the Montage Healdsburg for a drink with a view. For a great winery, check out Gundlach Bundschu!
