Question

Are children invited to any weekend events?

Answer

While we love your little ones, for the relaxation and enjoyment of all of our guests, the welcome dinner, ceremony, and reception will be an adults only affair. Please feel free to bring your little ones by the farewell brunch before you say goodbye!

Question

Is child care available in Cape May?

Answer

Childcare is not provided during the wedding and reception. If you would like to engage a babysitting service, the Grand Hotel recommends Sitters at the Shore (609-465-0840, sittersattheshore.com) and Guardian Angels Sitting Service (609-425-6988, guardianangelssittingservice.com).

Question

How and when should I RSVP?

Answer

Please RSVP online via the website or by returning the enclosed RSVP card in your invitation by April 15th.

Question

When is the deadline to reserve a hotel room at the venue?

Answer

The deadline to reserve a hotel room at the Grand Hotel using the wedding group rate is April 1st. There is a minimum of a two night stay (Friday and Saturday) at a rate of $341 per night. After April 1st, the rate and availability of rooms is unfortunately not guaranteed.

Question

Are there any other hotel options in Cape May?

Answer

Cape May has a wide array of bed and breakfasts, inns, and small hotels. Our wedding will be at the Grand Hotel which is located on Beach Avenue and will be most convenient for the wedding weekend. Other nearby options include the Icona, Lokal Hotel Cape May, and Boarding House Cape May. More historic options include Congress Hall and the Chalfonte Hotel. Cape May has beautiful historic bed and breakfasts - some favorites include the Mainstay Inn and the Queen Victoria. Many hotels have minimum stays in the summer, so please be aware of this as you are making reservations.

Question

I will be flying to travel to the wedding. Do I need a rental car?

Answer

Unfortunately, there are not good options for public transportation from any regional airports to Cape May. The distance between regional aiports and Cape May is a bit far for ride share such as Uber or Lyft. Most of our guests who fly to the wedding will need to rent a car or arrange sharing a rental car with another guest.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Attire for Friday night is semi-formal (one notch less fancy than cocktail attire - optional jackets for men, mid to knee length dresses/skirts or pants for women). The events on Saturday are cocktail attire (suits with ties for men, cocktail dresses for ladies). The farewell brunch on Sunday is casual (think jeans!).

Question

Am I invited to the welcome dinner?

Answer

Yes! All of our guests are invited to the welcome dinner on Friday night.

Question

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 4 pm. Please plan to be seated by 3:45 pm.

Question

It's raining! Where will the ceremony be?

Answer

While we are crossing our fingers for sunny skies and a wedding on the beach, in the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the fifth floor ballroom of the Grand Hotel. Please refer to signage in the lobby of the Grand Hotel to notify you of location changes on the day of the wedding.

Question

Will I have time to change shoes/outfits between the ceremony and cocktail hour?

Answer

Yes! We estimate the ceremony will end around 4:45 pm, leaving you approximately 15 minutes to stop by your room for any post beach touch ups or shoe changes that you would like before meeting us on the fifth floor ballroom for cocktail hour at 5 pm.

Question

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be options for me thoughout the weekend?

Answer

All of the meals throughout the weekend will be served buffet style with ample options for those who are gluten free and pescatarian. If you are joining us on Friday night at the welcome dinner, please let us know if you are vegan or vegetarian so that we can provide a plated dinner. If you are joining us for the reception, there will be ample vegetarian options. If you would like a plated vegan dinner, please let us know.

Question

How do I get around Cape May?

Answer

Historic Cape May is largely walkable. Some destinations do require a short drive, including the Cape May Lighthouse and Cape May Winery. Once you leave the historic center of Cape May, parking tends to be fairly available. Ride share with Lyft and Uber is also available in the Cape May area though be prepared for longer waits than you may be used to in urban settings. Within Cape May, there are bike and golf cart rental available.

Question

Why Cape May?

Answer

When you're getting married in what we're generously going call our mid 30's, friends and family are spread out across the country. When choosing the perfect place to say "I do," Katherine considered her home town (Pittsburgh), David considered his home town (Tampa), and they both thought long and hard about where the fell in love and share a home (Atlanta). Ultimately, they settled on Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May has held a very special place in Katherine's heart as she has visited every summer her whole life. Her family has spent more time in Cape May in recent years, making it feel like a second home. When the Grand Hotel had one date left for 2024 - June 1st, one year to the day after their engagement, it was a sign - this is the time and the place!
