Good hiking/viewing options include Park Avenue and Courthouse Towers (flat 1 mile hike), Balanced Rock (0.3-mile hike), Delicate Arch (3-mile roundtrip and climbs 480 feet). If it's not too hot, we highly recommend getting a Fiery Furnace permit (can be ranger-led or self-led...we recommend the latter). This is a choose-your-own-adventure hike that typically lasts about 3 hours. Permits go on sale 7 days prior to whatever date you want to hike. [Pro-tip: go down to the right when you first start your hike and then circle counterclock-wise, download the offline AllTrails map prior to embarking!]
2.3-mile out-and-back trail, not a lot of elevation gain and away from the crowds of Arches!
Drive the La Sal Mountain Loop, a 60-mile paved route that you can start right from the cabins. It usually starts about 8 miles south of Moab off US-191 and loops through the mountains down to Castle Valley and SR 128 where it follows the Colorado River back to Moab. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete the drive. If you're keen on getting some fresh mountain air and breaking a sweat, there are tons of trails in the La Sal Mountains. Be sure to bring extra water and snacks.
