Chace and Kate met on the greatest of all dating apps, Strava. Chace had just purchased a town home in Cedar Hills, UT, and Kate was moving to Provo from Austin, TX to start in her Physician Assistant program. Kate posted on a well-known running group's chat that she was moving to the area and looking for running friends. One month later, Chace saw the post and noticed that no one had responded. He peeked at Kate's Strava profile picture, thought that she looked cute, and decided to take one for the team and contact her. They met for a run on a gorgeous spring morning at the Battle Creek Trailhead. After the run, they had a harrowing car ride (Chace's Subaru flew over a speed bump going ~30mph, getting some serious air...Chace's Strava title for their run was aptly named "Wheels almost fell off, literally and figuratively") to the sole coffee shop open on a Sunday in Utah County, Juice 'N Java. They sipped their coffees, nibbled on treats, and talked for hours. The rest, as they say, is history. They've experienced the extremes of life's ups and downs. There have been serious life-threatening injuries, time spent apart, navigating the stress of a PA program and Kate's clinical rotations, and starting new jobs (well, for Kate, while Chace has been the steady-eddy professionally). There have been the incredible joys of life including LOTS of travel and adventure (Saipan, Vietnam, South Korea, Maine, Vermont, Orcas Island WA, Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon, and all over the great state of Utah), mornings making and eating breakfast on their back patio while staring up at Mahogany Mountain, and Kate warming her cold hands and feet on Chace's warm body on any given winter evening.
