As much as we wish we had to capacity to feed everyone for the entire weekend, we don't. Sorry! We will have plenty of alcohol for everyone for the whole weekend but maybe consider brining some extra sparkling waters to share? Please find a meal schedule below and we appreciate you being self sufficient. THURSDAY: - Dinner: Potluck Dinner, please bring a dish to share! FRIDAY: - Breakfast: On your own - Lunch: On your own - Dinner: We will provide Pizza/Salad/Dessert SATURDAY - Breakfast: On your own - Lunch: On your own - Dinner: We will provide Tacos and all the fixins' There are some communal grills on site. The cabins have full kitchens in them to be able to prep your own food. If you are camping, please be prepared to cook your own food. Downieville has great food options but think like less than 6 restaurants...
The Yubaverse is located in a tight river canyon along the Yuba River. Average temperatures for June tend to be low 80s during the day and mid 40s at night. However, we are in the Sierra and we should be prepared for anything. Pack plenty of warm clothes and a rain jacket!
We love dogs (if you know Kat, you know!), but we can only allow a few pups on-site due to venue restrictions and taming the chaos. If possible, please arrange pet care, but if you're having trouble, reach out and we'll try to help!
The Yubaverse is relatively remote: please don't leave Reno or Sacramento without everything you might need for the weekend. Besides what might be on your normal pack list, maybe consider bringing: - Warm Jacket - Rain Jacket - Warm Hat, Gloves - Hiking Shoes - Swim Suit - Beach Towel - Sunscreen/Bug Spray - Water Bottle - Backpack for Hiking - Headlamps or flashlights for dark evenings - Cooler / Ice if you are camping in the meadow - Bike Clothes, Helmet, Shoes - Mountain bike if you want to shuttle (you can also rent bikes in town) - Yoga mat, friends will be offering classes throughout the weekend If you are staying in a cabin, check out this link for an overview of what is included in our river cabins and river huts: https://www.yubaverse.com/stay-river-cabin/
There is an awesome hike to town that is not on any map but it follows the south side of the river from our property through a 2.5 mile hike to Downieville. There is a nice elevation gain and two creeks to cross that can be of varying difficulties at different times of the year. More trails locally can be found here: https://www.alltrails.com/us/california/downieville - The Divide Trails are awesome loops that take you for miles through the surrounding forest above Downieville. There is also a ton of hiking up at the Sierra Buttes just about 20 minutes up the road east of us - https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/sierra-buttes-lookout-trail Depending on winter snow melt, the Yuba River can be swam in and fished (with a license). Bring a swim suit and beach towel!
Each cabin has space for 2 cars. Only one car per river hut or river camping spot. If you are camping in the meadow, there will be room for your vehicle. If you are not camping and just coming in for the wedding day festivities, we encourage people to carpool as much as possible.
Don't count on it! Most people using AT&T can get one to two bars of cellular reception in the meadow. We can not speak for other providors. While there is Wifi on the property, we cannot offer it to everyone. Please be prepared to disconnect for the weekend but reach out if that will be an issue, we will do our best to accommodate.
If you plan to camp in the meadow you may bring your van or small camper. However, the bridge has some very stringent limitations, with no exceptions. Nothing over 96" wide (8 feet). That is the full width of the bridge and it is tight even at that. Most vans and small campers will have no problem with that. Nothing over 11 tons or 20,000 lbs. That is the weight limit of our bridge. No exceptions. MEASURE BEFORE YOU LEAVE! THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO ACCESS THE PROPERTY!
The Yubaverse is located in the wilderness. There are active black bears in the area who are often on the lookout for open car doors and windows or cabin doors. Please keep all food and trash locked in your cabin or secured in one of our trash bins. Keep your car windows rolled up and your car locked. Also keep your cabin locked when you are not inside. Hooks for your key are on the outside of the cabin next to the door. You are 100% liable for damages a bear causes due to lack of diligence on your part.
Yes you need a fishing license to fish in the North Yuba River and surrounding lakes. For full details please visit the California Fish and Wildlife website here: https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Inland
