We met each other through mutual friends at a local restaurant in Arcadia, CA. While Kat was living in Japan, Nate befriended her high school and college buddies. In September 2011, Kat moved back to America. Later that week, she decided to grab dinner with her friends. For our tenth anniversary, Nate wanted to do something fun for Kat. After a long day at work, he knew Kat would look forward to relaxing at home. To make home more magical, he turned the bedroom into a time machine. He edited videos of the Past and the Future and used special lights to set the scene. At midnight, we opened our bedroom door and stepped into the "time machine." When it was time to return to the Present, we walked over to a corner of the room. The lights washed the room in blue and a circle of string lights appeared around us. We had a small civil ceremony with our immediate family on January 9. A big, fancy ceremony was never our style.
