Our story actually begins way back in 2012, when we attended the same middle school—and later the same high school. She was known as Kmac, and he was known as Mac. We were both athletes, shared similar friend groups, and lived surprisingly similar childhoods without even realizing it. For years, we crossed paths more times than we can count—same halls, same events, same small-town routines—but never at quite the right moment. We were living parallel lives without knowing it. After graduation, we went in different directions and headed to different colleges, each following our own path. As first-generation college students, we were both focused on building our futures—one of us in Branson and the other in Warrensburg. Even then, farther apart than ever, our journeys kept unintentionally aligning. Still, we had not fully found our way to each other just yet. Then in 2022, everything changed with one unexpected message. He replied to one of her social media posts about a movie, and even though it was simple and unplanned, it became the first real conversation we ever had. We were both surprised by how natural it felt, and something about that moment was different. We connected instantly through our shared love of cinema, and our first date—thrifting together, seeing a scary movie, and going out to dinner—felt so natural, it was like we’d known each other forever. Even though we lived hours apart, we started dating and spent the rest of college making long-distance work. After graduating from college, we both returned to the same small town we grew up in—but this time, we were together. Living near each other for almost a year felt easy, comfortable, and right, like we had finally stepped into the relationship that had been quietly waiting for us all along. Over the next year, things became more serious, and we both started to pursue our professional careers. Around that time, Colton decided he needed to go back to college to pursue his master’s degree. All of that led to a big decision: moving to Springfield to build our future together while chasing our goals side by side. Since moving to Springfield, our professional dreams have begun to take shape, and we’ve had the chance to go on many adventures and take trips near and far. Looking back, we spent years crossing paths without knowing what was ahead. Now, two paths that moved in the same direction for so long have finally become one. Our story has been surprising yet completely natural, and we’re grateful that our lives were brought together at the right time. We can’t wait for everything that comes next.
