In the summer of 2023, Katelyn made the spontaneous decision to move from California to North Carolina. With the move quickly approaching, she reached out to friends to see if anyone had connections in the Charlotte area. A mutual friend mentioned a guy he knew in Charlotte who had a great group of friends and would definitely be willing to grab a beer with her. About a month before the big move, Cole reached out and introduced himself. After a few text exchanges, it quickly became clear there was a connection. Texts turned into phone calls, and phone calls turned into FaceTime dates. We bonded over our shared values, love for sports, our dogs, and our ability to constantly make each other laugh. By the time Katelyn officially moved to Charlotte, it felt like we had known each other for years—and everything fell perfectly into place. Over the next year and a half, we took trips to Nebraska and Michigan to visit family, traveled to California, Cabo, Hilton Head, Charleston, Savannah, and the Dominican Republic, moved into a townhome together, and watched our dogs become best friends. Our lives came together so naturally and seamlessly. On May 15, 2025, Cole popped the question—and the rest is history.
