Travel

There are several ways to get to the Vineyard! Below are some options depending on whether you’d like to bring a car or travel as a foot/bike passenger. Because our wedding weekend falls in October (shoulder season), please double-check ferry schedules and flight availability when booking; some summer routes stop by late September.

Hotel

Mansion House Inn on Martha's Vineyard

9 Main Street
Tisbury, MA 02568
 508-693-2200

We have reserved a block of rooms as at the Mansion House Inn. All reservations have to be booked by calling the Inn directly at 508-693-2200 and asking for our group room block by name (Schapira / Salas Wedding). Located right in the heart of Vineyard Haven, the Mansion House Inn is a convenient and welcoming place to stay for our guests. It’s just a short walk from the Steamship Authority ferry terminal, making arrival and departure especially easy for those traveling without a car. The inn is surrounded by charming local shops, cafés, and restaurants, so you’ll have plenty to explore right outside your door. With comfortable rooms, great amenities, and an unbeatable location, the Mansion House is a wonderful home base for your time on the island.

Travel Note

Steamship Authority

If you plan to bring your car, the Steamship Authority is the only ferry that transports vehicles to the island. Ferries run year-round between Woods Hole (Cape Cod) and Vineyard Haven. Vehicle reservations are required and open months in advance. These tend to sell out quickly, so book early once you know your travel dates. If you’re traveling without a car, you can still walk on as a passenger; tickets are usually available on the day of travel, but it’s still smart to book online ahead of time. Allow 30-60 minutes before your departure time for parking and boarding. Parking is typically offsite with free shuttle service to the terminal. The ride takes about 45 minutes. Something to keep in mind…If you end up taking this ferry to Vineyard Haven, the terminal is about a 5 minute walk (0.2 miles) to the Mansion House Inn. *disclaimer* This website can be really confusing and annoying to use, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Katelyn or Brandon with any questions, concerns, or if we can walk you through anything. We’re more than happy to help! *RESERVATIONS WILL OPEN FOR BOOKING ON FEBRUARY 3RD, 2026*

Travel Note

The Seastreak Ferry

A high-speed passenger only ferry that runs from New Bedford, MA, or from New Jersey/NYC to Oak Bluffs and sometimes Vineyard Haven in the off-season. The route typically continues into mid-to-late October. Something to keep in mind…If you end up taking this ferry to Vineyard Haven, the terminal is about a 5 minute walk (0.2 miles) to the Mansion House Inn (different terminal than Steamship Authority).

Travel Note

The Island Queen

Another passenger only ferry that runs from Falmouth, MA to Oak Bluffs. The ride is quick, about 35 minutes. Service usually runs late May through early October, they sometimes end around Indigenous Peoples’ Day weekend, so check their schedule closer to the date! There’s paid parking close to the terminal (about a 5ish minute walk) and space for bikes or small luggage.

Flight

Flying to Martha’s Vineyard Airport (MVY)

Martha’s Vineyard Airport is served all year-round by Cape Air (from Boston, Hyannis, and New Bedford). In October, you may also find seasonal flights with JetBlue, American, or Delta. Once you arrive, the airport is only about 15 minutes from Vineyard Haven by taxi, Uber/Lyft, shuttle, or bride and groom pick up service ;)

Rental Car

Turo

Ubers, Lyfts, and taxi services are available, but depending on how much sightseeing you do, that can get expensive. Turo is a great alternative. It's the AirBnB of car rentals. This can often be the most cost-effective option.

Travel Note

Vineyard Transit Authority

Martha's Vineyard Transit (VTA) provides year-round public transit bus service to the six towns on the island: Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, and West Tisbury. The VTA's transportation services consist of both fixed route and paratransit services (known as the "Lift"). Fixed route service varies throughout the year, depending on the seasonal travel demand. The VTA's peak season of operation typically runs from May to October, with fourteen routes that travel Island-wide.
