Flight
You can fly into either Chicago O'Hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW) to get here. We prefer Midway because it's smaller and a shorter trip downtown. If you live near a Southwest Airlines hub, it's also likely to be cheaper. Take the Orange Line train from Midway into the city center, or the Blue Line from O'Hare. Either way, it's cheaper and less frustrating than driving.
Travel Note
Even if you drive to the city, we recommend taking transit once you're here. Chicago is built for trains, not cars, so parking is scarce and expensive. Besides, you'll get to see a lot of great architectural features on the rails that you'd miss in a traffic jam. Use Google maps to get public transit directions by tapping the little train icon next to the car icon in the top left corner. Our train system is called The L, which is short for "elevated." All busses and most train stations are ADA accessible. To pay your fare, you can buy a fare card from a machine at any L station, or you can tap any credit/debit card at the turnstile or on the bus. A ride costs $2.50, or you can buy a day pass for $5. Small children are free. Note that St Basil's is accessible from the Ashland (#9) bus and/or the Polk Pink Line L station. Marz Brewing is also on the Ashland bus line, about 3 blocks from the stop at 37th St. The Ashland bus runs 24 hours a day, though service is less frequent after midnight. If you simply must drive, St Basil's has parking across the street at Union Health Service. Marz has limited street parking only.
Travel Note
Chicago has something for everyone! Since we're Airbnb hosts, we have a guide for our guests, and we think you'll like it, too. It includes both details of our neighborhood and major tourist attractions. If you're interested in additional events while you're here, Do312.com is a great place to start. We also recommend the basics, like going for a walk or bike ride on the lakefront!
