Question

How do I RSVP?

Answer

Click on the 'RSVP' tab here on this website, and then click into each event to tell us whether or not you can make it. Please reply by August 1, 2019 so that we can give all the venues an accurate head count.

Question

What if I have questions about the wedding weekend for Kate & Travis?

Answer

You can reach us at kateandtravis2019@gmail.com and we'll answer any questions you have!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Our ceremony will be held outside at the stately Historic Carlyle House and Gardens, with the Reception following just three blocks away inside in a restaurant. We recommend semi-formal attire, vibrant colors and floral prints welcome! Keep in mind there will likely be a temperature changes since Labor Day weekend can still be very hot and humid in DC, and then the restaurant will (hopefully!) be significantly cooler.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Both our ceremony and reception are located in Old Town Alexandria, VA, right near historic King Street. We recommend choosing a hotel near King Street, for convenience, however, the Old Town area is only about a 20 minute drive away from downtown DC, so depending on what you'd like to do while in town, feel free to book your stay somewhere closer to the city. We'd recommend Rosslyn, VA, which is the neighborhood closest to DC in VA, if you intend to do some sightseeing downtown. The Crystal City and Pentagon City areas in Arlington are both about halfway between Old Town and DC proper, as well. We've not booked a room block at any particular hotel; neither or ceremony nor reception takes place at a hotel, and we'd rather you be able to choose the best location for you based on the wedding sites & any other areas of DC you'd like to see while in town.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

If you intend to stay in the immediate Old Town Alexandria area, then a rental car is not necessary. There is a free trolley that runs along King Street, and we recommend Uber or Lyft for transport anywhere else in the DC area. An Uber from King Street to downtown DC should not exceed $15-$20. Unfortunately the DC Metro will be undergoing significant maintenance on the yellow and blue lines and the King Street metro station will likely be closed until September 2nd, 2019 ( I know, what timing!). However, the Metro will be running shuttle buses and other options for those of you wishing to stick with public transportation. Otherwise, a rental car is always an option, and the good news is that street parking should be free for the entirety of Labor Day Weekend, both in VA and DC.

Question

Will there be an after party?

Answer

Yes! We spent time in Old Town on a recent Saturday night and fell for O'Connell's pub. Good atmosphere, good drinks, yummy food. We'll wrap things up at Columbia Firehouse, feel free to stroll along King St or change, and then meet us at the O'Sullivan room (at the top of the flight of stairs in the entryway) at O'Connell's.
