Travel Note
We highly recommend packing a few at home COVID tests and performing them as close as possible before attending both the Welcome Event on Tuesday evening and the Wedding on Wednesday. If you are concerned or do receive a positive test while in France, feel free to reach out to either of us. We have friends who live in the area who can assist you in finding information and healthcare if you need. See the FAQ page for contact information.
Travel Note
France is open to tourists, but there are COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements that are subject to change. However these requirements are currently fairly relaxed. NOTE: The below information is accurate as of May 17. We will try to keep it as up to date as possible, but suggest that you visit the provided links to the the official French government websites for the latest, accurate information. In order for their vaccination schedule to continue to be recognised as complete, persons aged 18 years or older wishing to enter French territory MUST HAVE RECEIVED A BOOSTER DOSE of messenger RNA vaccine no later than nine months after receiving the last mandatory dose. If you're vaccinated against COVID-19 you are not required to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test for entry to France and only need to provide proof of your complete vaccination schedule. If you are not vaccinated against COVID-19 and are arriving from a "green list" country, which (as of May 17) includes the entirety of the European Union, the UK, and the United States, you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 (PCR) test dated less than 72 hours before departure, or an antigenic test dated less than 48 before departure. If you have connecting flights, the time is from the departure of your first flight. If you are not vaccinated against COVID-19 and are arriving from an "orange list" country, which (as of May 17) includes Australia, you will likely be denied entry without a compelling reason to be allowed to enter France. Travel Note
The United States will no longer require proof of a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of recovery for air passengers boarding a flight from a foreign country to the United States. This means, for those of you returning to the United States from France, or any other country, you NO LONGER NEED to get a COVID-19 test before you return to the United States.
Travel Note
You do not need to undertake a negative COVID-19 test before you travel back to Australia. You are still however required to provide proof of vaccination. See the below Australian Government website for up to date information. https://www.health.gov.au/health-alerts/covid-19/international-travel/inbound
Shuttle
June 29, 2022 4:00 pm - 2:00 am
Note that space on the shuttle is limited to those who have RSVP'd yes to the shuttle service in advance to secure their place and have been contacted to confirm their departure group. If you have not been contacted by us, and are planning on taking the shuttle, please get in touch. The pick up location will be the coach parking area near the Pont d'Avignon: https://goo.gl/maps/9XpynxCUQ6on4L6fA This is only a short walk from the centre of town - Place de l'Horloge, Palais des Papes. etc. There will be 2 departures from Avignon between around 4:00pm and 4:45pm. We will be reaching out to those who RSVP'd yes to assign a departure time to each of you. In addition, there will be a return shuttle service back to Avignon for those who RSVP'd yes available between 10:00pm - 2:00am.
Hotel
We are not recommending any specific hotels to our guests, but we do recommend staying in Avignon as there are many different hotel and transport options available. Place de l'Horloge is considered the centre of town, and is near to the shuttle pick up location, which is located nearby, along the river, but you can't go too wrong anywhere within the old walled city. We also have organised a shuttle service to transfer those staying in Avignon to and from the venue. We do ask that guests who wish to use the shuttle service to the venue RSVP in advance.
House Or Rental
Renting an airbnb is also great option! Especially if you plan on renting a car and exploring the region. Some towns to focus your search in would be Avignon, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Bédarrides, and Sorgues.
Hotel
Set along Lac de la Lionne, these contemporary cabins with an eco-chic vibe are 4 km from Sorgues and 5 km from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and the 14th-century Château des Papes and surrounding vineyards.
Train
Avignon is served by both the high-speed (TGV) and regular train networks. Be aware that the Avignon TGV and Avignon Centre train stations are in different locations. There are most major car rental agencies at the Avignon TGV station.
Flight
Avignon is the nearest airport, however flights are limited. Generally there are flights from London City Airport during the summer months.
Flight
Flying into Paris is probably the easiest and cheapest option for most of our international guests. From there you can catch the TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Avignon, which takes around 2h 45m.
Flight
Marseille is the nearest major airport. From here you can either rent a car or catch a train to Avignon Centre, both of which take around 1h.
Flight
Nîmes could be another option for those guests travelling from, or through London. It's a 45 minute drive to Avignon and there's no train link so you'll need to rent a car from there.
Flight
Lyon is another option for those coming from elsewhere in Europe or connecting through another city. From there you can take the TGV to Avignon or rent a car.
Flight
Nice is a great option for those who also want to check out the beautiful Côte d'Azur region. However it is not quite as well connected to Avignon by train as some of the other major cities.
