In short, yes. In addition to the nuptial rites, we are having a full Latin mass said for our new marriage. The vows will take place at the beginning of the ceremony and last about ten minutes then will be followed by the mass.
The Latin mass is the standard western Roman Catholic rite of the mass which was exclusively used until the early 1970s. In addition to being exclusively celebrated in Latin, there are many customs involved that have fallen to the wayside, so if you're a little surprised by what's going on, don't worry. We will be providing guides at the Church before the ceremony which include the order of the mass, the readings, and all translations. Feel free to grab one to follow along!
Everyone is welcome at the ceremony regardless of what you believe. If you are not a practicing Catholic, we simply encourage you to sit, kneel, and stand respectfully during the service. The wedding party will be seated at the front of the church if you need cues.
As Catholics, we believe that the Eucharist is the physical body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ offered up for us and our sins. To receive, you must be an actively practicing Catholic free of mortal sin and having made a good confession within the past year. Our priest will be hearing confessions the day before our wedding at the rehearsal and we encourage all baptized Catholics to attend with us. If you are unable to receive or do not wish to, we encourage you to make an act of spiritual communion or simply sit in respectful silence.
Absolutely! We're hosting a casual daytime ceremony and reception so feel free to bring the little ones with you. We do ask that if you are bringing any children who will be needing a meal that you let us know in the RSVP so we have enough to go around!
At this point in time, we ask that only those who are engaged or married bring a plus one. We love your boyfriends and girlfriends, but unfortunately, we have to keep our guest list on the shorter side. We will let you know if you have a guest on the wedding invitation.
Semi-formal. The ceremony is in a church so we ask that all guests dress modestly and nicely. We recommend either wearing comfortable shoes or bringing some to change into for the reception though as it will be outdoors.
The church has two parking lots- one across the street and one adjoining the building. There will be signs indicating parking on the grass at the venue. All parking is free of charge.
Because we need to nail down the guest count for the caterer and rental company, we ask that everyone's RSVPs are received (not just sent) by 21 March 2022. You can either RSVP via mail or on the website.
We will have a cocktail hour and luncheon at the reception. Because it's a daytime wedding we're not having an open bar but there will be wine, beer, and a signature cocktail as well as nonalcoholic drinks. If you have any special dietary needs, please let us know personally so we can accommodate you!
At this point in time, we are not providing transport back to hotels after the reception.
