Joel and I met within weeks of my move to Maine. In fact, we met my first day of a temporary coffee shop gig I took. If you haven't heard this tale of timing, I hope you enjoy. My stint at the little drive through shop happened to correspond with the last month of Joel working at Two Light's State Park, which meant he drove by every day. We became fast friends and he introduced me to Maine. Here we are 9 plus years later with loads of stories and a beautiful spirit of a daughter. Our story may be unconventional, but has flowed and evolved perfectly.
Over 8 years ago we took a getaway and the White Mountains touched our hearts immediately. We have been returning to the mountains every year since. There is a beauty and toughness to the area. Rich with majestic beauty, history, and a touch of undeniable magic, it felt like the perfect place for our ceremony. We can actually see the mountains from the backroads of Casco. Phoenix frequently talks to them from the vistas, "we'll see you soon, mountains!"
We have called each other "husband and wife" for years, but we decided it was time to make it official. While many of the traditional wedding details didn't make sense for us, we decided to create a simple unique celebration of our own. We realize a simple ceremony followed by an early dinner may not justify a lengthy journey. However, if it is possible for you to join we encourage you to explore the White Mountains for yourselves and hope your stay is worthwhile.
