EN - One fateful day in March 2015 Gerrit walked into an international church in Prague and a good friend introduced him to none other than Kate Herman. He was totally awkward and quickly found a place to sit in the back of the church. A few Sundays later a group from church went out to lunch together and the two of them got to talk - completely ignoring everyone else around them. A few days later during home group he told her he was a good cook, but she thought he was exaggerating skills so he offered to prove it to her. At the end of that evening Kate asked when exactly he was going to cook for her... And so the story began. Together they enjoyed the Czech Republic with its many castles and hiking opportunities, visited friends, family and friends across Europe and America. Then they decided it was time for a new chapter: to move to the Netherlands so Kate could get to know Gerrit’s family, friends, culture, and language. Their adventures continued and they knew they wanted to keep having adventures together, so Gerrit surprised Kate with a long weekend to Prague where he proposed to her on a hill overlooking their city. She said yes and soon they will commit to God to spend the rest of their lives together in the tiny historic town of Port Gamble, Washington. NL - Op een dag in maart 2015 stelde een vriendin Kate voor aan Gert in een kerk in Praag. Gert was lekker ongemakkelijk en zocht snel een stoel op. Later gingen ze beide met een groep lunchen na kerktijd en hadden alleen oog voor elkaar. Dezelfde week gingen ze naar een bijbelstudie waar Gert haar vertelde dat hij goed kon koken. Kate geloofde hem niet dus hij bood aan het te bewijzen. Zij vroeg hem wanneer. En zo begon het verhaal. Na samen een jaar van Praag en omgeving genoten te hebben verhuisden ze beide naar Rotterdam zodat Kate Gerts familie, vrienden, cultuur en taal kon leren kennen. Omdat ze hun avontuur samen willen vervolgen zullen zij voor God en mensen elkaar trouw beloven op 5/8/18.
