Harvey Relief

The Wedding Website of Kate Robinson and Caleb Beckwith
Houston has been hit hard by Hurricane Harvey, causing heavy flooding in some parts of the city. The Montrose and Museum Districts in which the wedding will take place have only been minimally effected, thankfully, but the city as a whole will be recovering from this disaster for at least the next decade. If you would like to make a contribution to Harvey Relief in lieu of a traditional wedding gift, we suggest that you choose from among the following organizations. We have listed specific organizations below, but there are many more outlets enumerated in these lists here: Money for the People: http://bit.ly/2wHVwGV NPR: http://n.pr/2iIK6Ni Colorlines: http://bit.ly/2iJgL5a A Just Harvey Recovery: http://bit.ly/2iH2Dcw

Fe y Justicia Workers’ Center

Fe y Justicia (Faith and Justice) is a Local Immigrant Laborer Rights and Advocacy Group. Houston’s recovery from Hurricane Harvey will be a marathon, and those who will bear much of the weight these coming years in the cleanup and rebuilding of our city will be immigrant laborers. Only this time around, they will be even more at risk of exploitation due to upcoming implementation of state policies targeting them for arrest and deportation, not to mention the added health risks of broken infrastructures, chemical and material debris, a surge in mosquitoes, etc. They will be assembling outreach kits for day laborers to take to labor sites in efforts to inform them of their civil and labor rights and health risks as they are tapped to be the unappreciated labor in our post-disaster recovery.
