Houston is a city with a rich tradition of art and culture. John and Dominique de Menil began collecting art intensively in the 1940s and their collection constitutes one of the first museums that inspired Kate into a life of art. The Rothko Chapel was commissioned by the Menils and sits adjacent to the museum. Come take a tour of the collection with other wedding guests!

Axelrad is a new beer garden/bar with a lot of Houston character, including a hammock grove! Come hang out and meet other guests or catch up with old friends and get some face time with K & C.
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The Rothko Chapel was the last work of legendary abstract expressionist painter Mark Rothko. The Menils commissioned it as a non-denominational space for quiet contemplation. There is no video or photography allowed in the chapel, so please keep your phones and cameras in your pocket or bag. Please be punctual, we would like to begin the ceremony as close to 1pm as possible!
2:00 pm - 8:00 pm
AvantGarden has been around since the 70s when it was a bohemian cafe. When Kate & her sister Meg were in high school it was a venue called The Mausoleum and they would often go to shows there with their mom & sister. The refurbished Craftsman house has a lot of charm including the lovely, foliage-covered patio.
