Things To Do

There is no shortage of things to do around Lake Tahoe. With an abundance of state and national forest land, you'll have plenty of choices for sight seeing, hiking and mountain biking. And, of course, there's the lake. Lay out a towel and soak up some sun at the beach, or rent a kayak or SUP and paddle around. While the area is known for it's quality outdoor activities, but there are plenty of good eats and indoor activities as well. Check out one of the many breweries, cafes, bakeries, restaurants and shops scattered around south lake. And for those of you feeling lucky, try your hand at the casinos, located on the Nevada side of town. Some of our favorite places are listed below.

Eagle Falls

138 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 543-2600

The #1 visited spot on the lake. It can get crazy, but for good reason. The drive itself to get there is spectacular and the views once you're there are even better. Recommend getting there before 9 AM to make sure you get a parking spot.

Mt. Tallac Trailhead

South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 543-2600

Mt. Tallac is one tallest mountains in the basin. The trailhead is just down the road from the venue. At it's peak you will enjoy stunning views of the lake and desolation wilderness. It's about 9 miles round trip, and worth the effort. However, if you're looking for something shorter, the first couple miles are mellow and offer great views of fallen leaf lake and Tallac.

South Shore Bikes

871 Emerald Bay Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 544-7433

Pick up a full on downhill bike or a single speed cruiser, and hit the trails. There is also a SUP renal right next door.

Pope Beach

California 89, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 543-2600

Beautiful, golden sand beach just down the road from the venue. Some other beaches in the area are baldwin and kiva, also just down the road. As with many attractions in this area, we recommend getting there earlier rather than later to insure you get a parking spot. Or cruise down the paved bike path and avoid the traffic!

Beacon Bar & Grill

1900 Jameson Beach Road, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 541-0630

Cool bar and restaurant right on the water at camp Richardson. If you're staying in one of the cabins there, definitely check it out. They're known for their rum runners and calamari.

Crazy Good Bakery Cafe

2040 Dunlap Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 600-1771

The name says it all - it's crazy good.

South Lake Brewing Company

1920 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 578-0087

Good brews and good people. This is our favorite brewery in the area.

Basecamp Tahoe South

4143 Cedar Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 208-0180

Awesome spot at stateline. They usually have live music in the afternoon, good food, beer and lawn games.

Sprouts Cafe

3123 Harrison Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
, (530) 541-6969

Great food and smoothies for breakfast and lunch. Casual and fairly priced. Very close to a mid town beach and bike path.

For all the days along the way
