Monserrate is a high Mountain over 10,000 feet high that dominates the city center of Bogotá. It rises to 3,152 metres above the sea level, where there is a church at the top. Great place to get a panoramic view of Bogota and a fun fact: This is where the Katherine's parents actually got married!
One of the coolest things we have done in Bogota on a Sunday is visit this market. The whole neighborhood of Usaquen turns into an outdoor market full of local vendors selling arts, crafts, food & gifts, there is also live entertainment. You could easily spend the whole day here, make sure you get an early start.
If you like to visit local food markets this is one of the best in the world we have seen, there are hundreds of fruits, vegetables , flowers and local food stands in case you want to have breakfast or lunch there. We suggest booking a tour in advance or if you feel adventurous go with a group of friends. Tip: go in the morning.
The Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá is an underground Roman Catholic church built within the tunnels of a salt mine 200 metres underground. This is definitely one of the main tourist attractions in the region, this can be something to see on the way to Villa de Leyva from Bogota.

Take a bus from Santa Marta that takes you directly there.
While visiting Tyrona National Park we stayed in this beach side hostal for a few nights, if you love nature and need a bit of digital detox this is the perfect place. You can catch a bus everyday to the National Park right outside the hotel and be in the middle of a tropical paradise.
Clear turquoise waters, white sand, palm trees, and delicious fresh seafood, it’s a stunning destination for beach lovers. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s also easily accessible from Cartagena’s Walled City. Not to mention that it’s also super affordable for travelers on a budget.
