We met as college students at CSU Long Beach. Our nursing cohort was small with a class size of 20 to 30 people, so it was not difficult to become friends with everyone. We were in the same clinical rotation as well, with an even smaller group of around 10 people. On our first clinical day, I forgot my wristwatch at home. I was running late so my mom planned to drop it off at the hospital. My mom ended up seeing Kat in the parking lot and asked her if she had a classmate named Eric in her class. Kat said yes and offered to give my wristwatch to me. Before driving off, my mom yelled out, "Be nice to my son!"
Eric accompanied my family and I on a trip to Europe. Paris was our last stop during the trip, and all our days there were projected to be cloudy with rain. Because of this, Eric kept pushing off visiting the Eiffel tower, hoping for good weather. It was the last day of our trip, and we decided to head there, rain or shine. In the middle of photo-taking, Eric got down on one knee, and pulled out the box he'd been secretly carrying the whole trip. It was perfect! And it was the only day during our trip that the sun came out in Paris.
