It's not a particularly exciting tale. Meaning we didn't see each other across the room, lock eyes, and know instantly that we had met the person we were going to marry. We met online. Yes, you read that right. We sifted through the complete and utter weirdos on a dating website (the groom for six months and the bride for one year) before we found one another. One very large virtual room of oddballs...until we found OUR oddball.
We wanted to get an early start to our holiday decorating. So, the day after Thanksgiving we headed out to get our Christmas tree along with lights and decorations. As we began decorating the tree, we realized we needed another strand of lights. So, Chris left to go to the store to get the last strand. When he came back, he mentioned that he needed to go into our office to "work" on something. After a minute or so, he walked into the living room and asked, "Okay, you ready to finish the tree?" As I stood up from the couch he said, "Wait, before we do this, I have a question for you," and began to reach into his pocket. At first I was confused as to what he was doing. And then before I could think about it any more he got down on one knee (he bent the knee!) and opened the ring box. It was all a blur after that, but obviously I said "Yes!" Chris had the ring in our office for 3 weeks! But waited to propose in front of our first Christmas tree in our home to make it that much more special.
