This is one of our favorite places to sidle up to the bar for buck ‘o shuck. Get there early for a seat and keep it. It gets very busy fast.
This is a great bay side pub at the Greenwich Bay Yacht club where we keep an old swing keel out on a mooring. There isn’t much of a view but the locals pack the place for a cold brew after a salty day in the bay and the fish and chips are fantastic.
This wonderful seaside restaurant has awesome views of the fishing harbors and southern Rhode Island shores. You can’t get fresher!
Our first COVID excursion was to this spot where we could sit out on the picnic tables overlooking the salt marshes.
Visit the Preservation Society of Newport County to learn about the historic mansions, many of which are open for tours, and find out about other programs focused on the city's history.
Fabulous French cafe in Tiverton to grab a cup of coffee and lovely lunch during your drive.
This is a great bayside lobster shack! Note for the mid-westerners: you do not actually drive through. You park, walk up, and order - then sit out back on the picnic tables and docks looking at the boat traffic while you eat!
Wait, did you say Moby Dick? One of those particularly New England places to visit, the New Bedford Whaling Museum is a great afternoon spot for visitors young and old in your group. And for those paying attention, this isn't in Rhode Island but its down in that slip of southern Massachusetts coast line and only about an hour or so drive from Providence.
Providence is home to Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design, both situated in the Fox Point neighborhood. We used to walk these streets frequently admiring the beautiful old architecture and taking in the city views from the hill. The RISD museum is a good size for an afternoon outing including the walk and other site visits. From here, you could also head down to the pedestrian bridge and river walk that separates the city’s neighborhoods.
The best lobster roll!!! Easy outdoor food truck vibe. Have a bite and then walk to the pedestrian bridge for a beautiful skyline view of the city to the north and the bridges and house boats to the south.
A great Mexican restaurant and tequila bar in Fox Point near Brown University and Kassie's old apartment.
This fabulous cocktail bar is where we celebrated our first Valentine's together.
Super cocktail and food spot within walking distance of The Graduate.
