Nope! Consider this your invitation. Please use the RSVP tab to let us know if you will be able to celebrate with us!
We chose the latter end of the busy season, when the weather is still enjoyable. During this time, the area still gets inundated on the weekends and we wanted our day to be peaceful and to hopefully not have to fight the crowds. Also, since we have to apply for our marriage license once we arrive and can only do so during the week, we wanted a buffer day to accomplish that. Also, also, we're running a half marathon the Sunday before!
The sooner, the better! Because everything books up quickly in the area, we would like as accurate a headcount as possible so that we can make final arrangements for accommodations and the dinner reception. We kindly ask that you RSVP by June 10th.
If you will be visiting any of the national parks, you will need to purchase a park pass. We recommend purchasing in advance to avoid the line at the park entrance. You can buy passes online here: https://www.banfflakelouise.com/parks-pass-online Allow up to a month (2-4 weeks) for their delivery. If you're going to be doing some hiking, most places recommend bringing bear spray. Whether you truly need it is more dependent on where you will be hiking. If you plan to do some serious day hikes or getting off the beaten path, get it. If you're sticking to the more popular spots and staying around groups of people, save yourself the $$. We also recommend stocking up on some snacks and water while you are in town to take with you. Spots to purchase these things are more limited once you get inside the national park.
We love your kids, but we want to keep things small and simple, so we're going the adults-only route. We hope you will get to use this as an opportunity to cut loose and enjoy a relaxing vacation sans kiddos.
Based on our past experience, we'd recommend getting some Canadian currency just to cover minor spending/tipping. We found that a lot of places still accepted and/or preferred USD, but we used our credit cards for most of the spending (most credit cards have a really good exchange rate). At the end of our trip we found ourselves purposely trying to spend our CAD, just because we didn't spend it much during our trip and you lose money if you convert it back to USD.
