Our Story

Sept 12 2023

It all started with a spontaneous trip — because, of course, it did. Tater decided to head to Indiana for her birthday to see her best friend, Riley. One thing led to another, and somehow she ended up convincing Tater to drive home with her two uncles, Cody and Trenton. The only catch? Her car was still parked at the Vegas airport, which rerouted everyone through Utah — and that’s where Weston officially entered the picture (thank you, modern technology and mutual chaos). After a failed first date attempt, Tater and Weston kept talking. And calling. And texting. And FaceTiming — for a month and a half straight. Then, in true spontaneous fashion, Weston decided to drive to Lake Havasu City to meet Tater in person for her uncle’s birthday party. Now, knowing they hadn’t met in person yet, Tater’s family decided to have a little fun. Uncle Trenton put on one of her dresses and went out to “meet” Weston in the driveway — only for Tommy to catch him mid-disguise in the backyard. Needless to say, Weston got the full family introduction that night. He stayed the week in Arizona, and the two hit it off right away. Shortly after, they went to Panaca, NV for Tater’s brother Tanner’s race. That’s where Tater realized she was falling for Weston — and where Weston knew she was the one. Just a week later, Tater went to Utah to meet his family, and on September 12, 2023, Weston asked her to be his girlfriend. From that day on, he stood by her side through everything — including IVF treatments only two weeks into their relationship — traveling back and forth from Utah to Arizona every chance he got. They built a life together full of dirt, dogs, and road trips — raising their beloved “soul dog” Jax, and later welcoming Maggie and Otis to the pack. Then, during another race weekend in Mexico, Weston decided it was time. For months, he had been secretly working with Tater’s mom, Tifni, who hand-crafted the ring from pieces of both of Tater’s great-grandmothers’ rings. The plan was in motion, the nerves were high, and Weston was… very aware of both. He had planned to propose on the beach but, after a few nerves (and a very fast margarita), he teamed up with Tanner and decided to do it at the Lighthouse Restaurant, overlooking a 180° view of the ocean. When the family stepped outside for photos, Weston got down on one knee — and Tater said yes! …right before he dropped the ring. After a night full of laughs, happy tears, and phone calls to surprise everyone back home, Weston’s nerves finally caught up to him — and let’s just say his stomach didn’t love the adrenaline. The weekend ended just as it began: surrounded by family, at the racetrack, laughing together — but this time, as fiancés. From a chaotic road trip to a dropped ring by the ocean, Tater and Weston’s story has been nothing short of wild, heartfelt, and perfectly imperfect — exactly how they like it.
