How We Met

CS 1371 is for Lovers

We met at study hours for the computer science course CS 1371. It was summer and we were both sun-tanned from outdoor adventures- maybe one of the reasons we both stood out against the pale-skinned background of most Georgia Tech students. I (Zach) saw Kasey as soon as I walked in and checked her out a few times (with a huge smile, she says); she wasn't like other GT kids. As soon as I found a seat, Kasey made the next move by putting her computer down next to me for help with a Teacher's Assistant. She noticed a ladybug larvae I had taken off my backpack, mentioning that she was going to take it outside to release. That struck up a conversation about urban farming when she got back. I thought I was a hot shot saying "I volunteer at a couple urban farms in Atlanta", but was quickly humbled when Kasey fired back "Me too!". It turns out we had been volunteering at the same Freewheel Farm for a while and had been simply working on different days. It brings me pain to say it, but "Thank God for CS 1371" for bringing us together.

The Wedding

September 7th 2019

Thank you for being in our lives,we are so excited to celebrate with you! When we started planning the wedding we quickly realized there were wedding traditions we love and want to honor, and then others we want to let go. Tradition we love: Weddings bring people together! We look forward to spending time with you and everyone meeting each other. We hope to create a relaxed, joyful atmosphere where family and friends feel at ease and future friends meet. You all know us - we want this to be fun so feel free to be sassy, have fun, and make new friends. We had some fun outlining the different eras of our lives that led us to meeting you all. Check it out! Friends and family in Dayton, Ohio; Lawrenceville and Atlanta Georgia, and then more specifically: Georgia Tech (CS1371), Dayton Bike Polo, Beta Theta Pi, Fat Bottom Squirrels, ESS friends, ATL Mobile Social, Atlanta Bike Polo, FreeWheel Farm, PVD, GVL, Woodard and Curran, Hodges and Hicks, and Jacobs Engineering. Ha ha, hope we didn’t forget an era! You will be quizzed on this before you leave. Modified tradition: Instead of renting a 'venue' for one night, we grabbed an estate-sized AirBnb for the whole weekend. The house is on 125+ acres and has a private lake, pool, and hot tub…with plenty of camping space available. If camping isn’t your thing, no problem - we have plenty of options listed in the accommodations page. The way we approached the wedding: we just want to have a big party! Also... we have a bouncy castle, because who doesn’t love bouncy castles? We look forward to sharing our non-traditional wedding with all of you. Bring your dogs, bring your swimsuit & bring a sense of humor to share in our big day.
