Cooper likes to say that Karri caught his eye as she made an impressive catch while playing in their mutual friend's recreation softball league. He quickly won her over with his "would you rather" questions from left field. Karri and Cooper quickly hit it off and Karri's best friend Amanda was the first to predict that he was the one for her before even meeting him while Karri was back in Ontario for graduation after just 3 weeks of dating.
We headed to Pender Island for the Victoria Day long weekend/our four year anniversary. After a delayed ferry ride we finally arrived close to midnight at Pender Island for the long weekend with Cooper's family and friends. The first thing Cooper wanted to do when we got there was head down to the water to check for bioluminescence. Karri was totally on board but surprised when no one else followed and there were candles leading down to the beach. Karri was so surprised that Cooper was able to pull off a surprise without her clueing in that she exclaimed "NO!" as Cooper pulled out the ring and didn't let him finish asking before she said yes. As they walked up from the beach all of Karri's best friends and her mom had all made the journey out to Pender as the icing on the cake.
Cooper's grandparents, Lois and (late) Frank Strong, bought the little red cabin at the end of Craddock Drive on South Pender Island in the late 70s. Lois and Frank have cultivated a peaceful get away to relax and make memories with their 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The cabin at Pender has become a gathering spot to stay connected to our family and friends since we have moved to Vancouver. We love weekends away playing disc golf, whale watching, kayaking, boating, and drinking the local cider. We are so excited to show off our happy place!
