Flight
NYC has three airports, but La Guardia (LGA) is definitely the easiest for domestic flights and is a close cab ride to Manhattan. If you'd prefer, Newark (EWR) is easily accessible via a longer cab ride or an NJ Transit train into Penn Station, and JFK is a little farther via cab or Subway.
Hotel
The Highline Hotel is just 3 short blocks from the reception. Formerly a portion of General Theological Seminary, this is where ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” was written! Jonathan and Karmen will be staying here.
Travel Note
The closest hotels to the reception with rates <$175 are Selina Chelsea, Hyatt House Chelsea, and Holiday Inn Chelsea.
Travel Note
While the above hotels are recommended, there are many nearby chain hotels in Chelsea (Hilton, Fairfield Inn, Four Points, and Holiday Inn) as well as smaller boutique hotels in the nearby Meatpacking District (The Standard, Dream Downtown, The Maritime, and Gansevoort Meatpacking). AirBnb is heavily restricted in NYC, so we recommend you stay at a hotel.
Travel Note
We do not recommend renting a car, and instead relying on cabs or the subway to get around during your visit. Yellow cabs are available throughout Manhattan and we encourage them for any out of towners that are unfamiliar with taking the subway. To get to the ceremony at St. James' church, you can tell your cab driver "71st and Madison." To get to the reception at Bottino, tell your driver "24th and 10th." Cabs take either cash or card and can be hailed by sticking your hand out when you see one with their light on. If you prefer to use a ride share, Uber and Lyft are available throughout the city. We also recommend Revel, an entirely electric local ride share business.
Train
If you’re staying in the city for a few days, we recommend you get comfortable with the subway. It’s the cheapest and fastest way to get around town at only $2.90 per ride and you can now pay with tap-to-pay. Google Maps provide accurate directions to help you navigate the system.
