Josh and Karlie both grew up in Spokane, and their paths crossed as kids at one of their favorite places in the world: Camp Sweyolakan on Lake, Coeur d'Alene. Though they each had their minds set on other things back then, their love of camp has been a constant thread throughout their relationship, even jokingly singing camp songs to scare away bears on their hikes. Josh moved to the west side of Washington for college, rowing at Western Washington University, and meeting some of his best buds. Then, he attended Washington State University in Pullman, Washington (go cougs!). Karlie attended Gonzaga University. In the winter of 2021, while working up at Schweitzer mountain, Josh reached out to Karlie on Instagram, remembering her from camp all those years ago and the two reconnected. On their first official date, though Karlie didn't know it at the time, Josh picked her up, opened his car door for her, and she realized she was in fact on date. Their first date turned into four dates in one, resulting in them initially just having drinks, then deciding to go somewhere else for dinner, bar hopping, and going bowling all in one night. A few months later, when Josh moved back to Spokane in Spring of 2021, Karlie was finishing up her final year at Gonzaga University, and her post-grad plan was to move to New Orleans. Throughout the summer before she moved, Josh and Karlie fought the inevitable, knowing Karlie was moving. But, there was nothing they could do. Both being hopeless romantics, they fell in love. They often refer to this summer as "the summer of love." Karlie returned from New Orleans and began law school, and the two moved in together. Josh began pursuing his dream of becoming a chef, and attending culinary school. Karlie and Josh have taken "the grind" to a whole new level these past four years, both attending school, working hard, and playing even harder. Karlie is now an attorney in Spokane and Josh works at a favorite Spokane restaurant, Sorella, pursuing his culinary dreams, and providing late night tiramisu for Karlie. Together Josh and Karlie are truly lovers of life, people, and adventure. More importantly, they cherish the little things each day they spend together. They encourage each other to achieve their dreams and aspirations. Their relationship is full of a lot of twirling & dancing, cooking and trying new foods, watching football, of course Gonzaga basketball, attending rock concerts, enjoying the PNW mountains and lakes, skiing, and surfing. They are lucky enough to have a lot of their best friends and their family near by. In December 2025, the two brought a new member into the family: a Labrador named Indie! She is the best pup and a big part of their lives. Whether you are someone who is very involved in our lives, or someone who supports us from a far, we cannot wait to add more memories to our story with you all & have fun on the dance floor on 7/11/2026!!
