Sangeet

5:30 pm - 9:30 pm

UMass Amherst Student Union Ballroom
41 Campus Center Way, Amherst, MA 01002, Student Union Ballroom, Amherst, MA 01002

The word “Sangeet" means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding, it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. Directions and parking: Please park in the Campus Center Parking Garage located off Campus Center Way in Amherst, MA. The Student Union is a short walk from the garage via an interior walkway. The entry to the garage is on Level 3. Please take a ticket as you enter the garage and proceed down one level to Level 2. On Level 2, please follow signs for the Campus Center and take the walkway that will bring you directly into the Campus Center/Student Union complex. Once you enter the Campus Center you will see signs for the Student Union. Please follow signs for the Student Union, and make your way to the Ballroom (on the 2nd floor). For answers to questions on dress code, please check out our FAQ page.

Ceremony (Baraat)

2:15 pm - 2:45 pm

The baraat is a celebratory wedding procession involving live music and dancing. Directions and parking: If driving, follow Walpole Road up to the venue where there is a parking lot with plenty of parking spaces. Parking is free. Please note: Haydenville is a village in the town of Williamsburg, so don't be surprised if your directions mention one versus the other. Additionally, the cell service can be spotty, so we highly recommend downloading an offline map of the area or reviewing your directions beforehand. For answers to questions on dress code and transportation, please check out our FAQ page.

Ceremony and Cocktail Hour

3:00 pm - 5:45 pm

The wedding ceremony will be performed in two parts: a traditional Hindu ceremony, followed by a humanist ceremony inspired by Jewish and family traditions. A cocktail hour will follow.

Reception

6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Please join us for an evening of food, drinks and dancing!

For all the days along the way
