Flight
Naples International Airport (NAP) is the main airport for reaching the Amalfi Coast. It’s about 1.5 to 2 hours to Amalfi, depending on traffic. From the airport, you can take a private transfer, rental car (we don't recommend having a car on the Amalfi Coast), or use public transportation (train + bus or ferry). Rideshare services like Uber are not widely available, but local taxis and shuttle services are options.
Travel Note
Train to Salerno + Ferry to Amalfi This is one of the easiest and most beautiful ways to arrive on the Amalfi Coast without needing to deal with traffic or winding coastal roads. ⸻ 🛤️ Step 1: Train from Rome to Salerno • Departure Station: Roma Termini (Rome’s main train station) • Arrival Station: Salerno • Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours (via high-speed Frecciarossa or Italo trains) • Tickets: Buy in advance on Trenitalia or Italo • Price: Around €20–€50 depending on how early you book Pro Tip: Choose a train that arrives in Salerno before 4pm so you can catch a ferry. ⸻ ⛴️ Step 2: Ferry from Salerno to Amalfi • Ferry Operator: Travelmar or Positano Jet • Departure Port: Molo Concordia (just a 5–10 minute walk from Salerno train station) • Arrival Port: Amalfi • Duration: ~35–45 minutes • Price: Around €10–€15 • Ferry Website & Timetables: www.travelmar.it Pro Tip: Sit on the right-hand side of the ferry for the best views of the Amalfi coastline! ⸻ 🧳 Luggage Tips • Trains and ferries both allow luggage, but avoid very large suitcases if possible (you’ll have to carry them up/down steps and cobblestones in Amalfi). • Wheeled suitcases are fine—just expect a bit of walking from ferry to your accommodation.

We recommend using booking.com or Airbnb to find a place to stay that is within your budget. Just a little tip before you hit “RESERVE”- make sure to double check how far your place is from Amalfi town center. And more importantly… how many steps you’ll need to climb to get there! Amalfi is beautiful (and hilly!), so be sure to read the fine print in the listing and check the reviews for any mention of steep stairs or long uphill walks.
