We met in 2011 at our workplace: Kona Brewing Company in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i. Karina was a hostess at the restaurant and Shane was working the retail counter. After meeting, we immediately knew we had a lot in common... from our taste in music, love of beer, and our individual stories of how we landed in Hawai'i. We began a friendship built on our shared love for exploring the magical island of Hawai'i and eventually it became clear we were meant for each other. Coming back to Kona to say our vows is how we honor the beginning of our story together.

Less than 1 month after moving to California, Shane proposed at Sand Dollar Beach near Watsonville, CA. Shane was sick and I was tired of walking but he insisted we walk a little further down the beach with our dogs. He really surprised me when he stopped, got down on his knee, and asked if I would marry him. The answer was simple: Yes!!
