Explore Lucca on a bike or by foot
If you want to learn more about the hidden gems and history we recommend taking a tour. Otherwise its pretty easy to just hire a bike or walk/run around the walls (3.3 miles, 5.3 km).
Local Mini Opera Concert inside a historic church (1 hour)
Lucca is the birthplace of famous opera singer Puccini. A local organization organizes (almost) daily 1 hour concerts at 7pm in Lucca’s beautiful San Giovanni church (near the cathedral). Arias and duets composed by two of the world’s finest opera composers and a pianist. The event is very casual - there is no dress code. Tickets can be purchsed using cash when you get there. The Box Office opens at 6pm (tickets are 30 EUROs) and have a drink at the small bar next door while you wait.
Azienda agricola Valle del Sole (Wine Tasting)
Recommendation for a local wine tasting and lunch. You'll need to call and book ahead to get a seat.
Ristorante Giglio (Michelin starred restaurant)
For those fancy folk out there we've been told this is the place to go for a 5 star meal run by 3 passionate local chefs. You'll need to reserve in advance.
Caffè Santa Zita (A Biscotteria)
Caffè Santa Zita is acharming café with a terrace overlooking the San Frediano Basilica. It's the perfect place to start your day with a good cappuccino and amazing pastries made in-house.
Pasticceria Dianda
Delicious Italian Pasteries. Go on an empty stomach (ask Justine S about the chocolate croissant).
Trattoria da Giulio
Traditional longstanding Trattoria serving Tuscan classics with a beautiful outdoor terrace underneath the city walls. Reservations reccomended but not required.

Megha, Helen and I went here and its amazing modern Italian food. Highly reccomend it if you have a stop in Florence. Bookings required!
