Flight

Recommendation: Fly Directly Into Cozumel

The easiest way to get here is to fly directly into Cozumel International Airport (CZM). It’s a small airport just 10–15 minutes from our hotel, with nonstop flights from several U.S. cities. You can also fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN), then take a bus or private transfer to Playa del Carmen (1 hour), followed by a ferry to Cozumel (45 minutes), then taxi to hotel. While often less expensive, it’s a much longer trip (plan for 2–3 hours plus ferry time).

Hotel

InterContinental Presidente Cozumel Resort Spa by IHG

Col Carretera A Chankanaab, Cozumel, Q.R. 77688, Mexico
 +52 987 872 9500

We’re thrilled to be celebrating our wedding at El Presidente, our host hotel and home base for all the festivities. Presidente is a 5-star hotel. The food is very good, the rooms are fantastic and the staff is wonderful. Not to mention, the property is stunning! We’ve secured a discounted room block for our guests. Booking under the room block ensures you’re close to all the action and makes logistics much easier (plus, the views aren’t bad either). The Wedding Block rate for a Classic room is $295.00 Wedding rates will be valid three days prior to and three days post wedding dates. Some people have had trouble with the link, so I highly recommend that you email or call instead of using the link.

Casa del Mar Cozumel Hotel & Dive Resort

km 4 Chankanaab, Cozumel, Q.R. 77675, Mexico

If you’re looking for a charming, budget-friendly alternative just a short taxi ride from the host hotel, Casa Del Mar is many divers favorite hotel. Keep in mind, this is more of a local place. The rooms are clean, the food is good and the shower is hot. There’s not much else offered here for non divers. It has a laid-back vibe, winding garden paths, and a swim-up bar that practically begs for a lazy afternoon margarita. It’s not fancy, but it’s full of tropical charm. We’ve stayed here dozens of times and love the cozy, local atmosphere and friendly staff. It’s the perfect spot if you want a relaxed Cozumel experience with easy access to the wedding fun. And be sure to say hello to Santos, our favorite bartender (who once cut Will off!) and Javier at the restaurant; you’ll be part of the family in no time.

A laid-back beachfront resort just minutes from downtown Cozumel and steps from the cruise pier. Consider this your in between El Presidente and Casa Del Mar option. El Cid offers oceanview rooms, a private beach, and a relaxed atmosphere perfect for unwinding. Great for guests who want easy access to town, diving, or just a margarita by the water.

Travel Note

Additional Hotels

For guests who prefer other options, Cozumel has plenty of accommodations for all budgets and travel styles. Airbnb and Vrbo have a wide variety of condos, homes, and apartments throughout the island. You’ll find everything from waterfront villas with private pools to budget-friendly studios in town. Staying in town puts you close to restaurants, shops, and the ferry; staying south of town puts you closer to beaches and dive sites.

Rental Car

Transportation

Around Town: Taxis are the easiest form of transportation on island. You can also rent a car or scooter if you want to explore more of the island. A rental is not necessary unless you are looking to go to the "wild" side of the island (undeveloped, rugged half of the island). Taxi from airport: When you land in Cozumel, you’ll go through customs and then step out into the arrivals area. This is where it can get a little hectic…there are lots of people trying to sell you timeshares, tours, or rides. The trick is to skip past all of that and head straight to the official airport shuttle stand. (Cozushuttle or FlexShuttle) Here’s how to do it: 1. Walk past the crowd. Once you’re through customs, just keep walking. Don’t stop to chat—smile, say “no gracias,” and keep moving. Walk out the first set of double doors. 2. Look for the shuttle counter inside the second set of doors, before you exit outside. This is where you buy a prepaid shuttle ticket. 3. Buy your ticket. Tell them the name of your hotel, pay at the counter, and they’ll give you a receipt. 4. Head outside to the shuttle line. With your prepaid ticket in hand, you’ll be directed to the correct shuttle. The ride is quick—about 15-20 minutes to most hotels.

Travel Note

Customs

When you land in Cozumel and go through customs, you’ll encounter a very simple screening system at the end. After you’ve picked up your luggage, there’s a podium with a big button on it. Each traveler takes their turn pressing it. • Green light: You’re free to go. No bag checks, no questions, just head out to enjoy your trip. • Red light: You’ve been randomly selected for inspection. A customs officer will ask you to open your bags so they can take a quick look. It’s not personal and usually only takes a few minutes unless they find something that needs a closer check. It’s literally luck of the draw…there’s no way to influence it. Think of it like a game show where the prize is skipping a search.
