Spearfish Canyon
This is such a cool spot just a few minutes from town. You can take a leisurely drive, stop at waterfalls like Bridal Veil Falls, Roughlock Falls or just enjoy the view.
Custer State Park
Sylvan Lake, Little Devils Tower, Black Elk Peak, and Sunday Gulch are some of our personal favorites.
Black Elk Peak
PROPOSAL LOCATION (definitely holds a special place in our hearts)!
Needles Highway
This is a super scenic drive through towering granite spires, narrow tunnels, and winding curves — it’s one of the most iconic roads in the Black Hills.
Devils Tower
A massive rock formation just across the border in Wyoming — it’s about an hour from Spearfish and totally worth the trip. It’s a sacred site, a popular hiking spot, and one of the coolest natural landmarks you’ll see.
Badlands National Park
If you’ve got the time, you’ve got to check out the Badlands. It’s just over an hour from Rapid directly off I-90 — the views are unreal. It’s one of our favorite spots for a little road trip and some amazing photos (it's especially beautiful during the sunrise, you may even be able to get up close with the wildlife).
