FAQs

The Wedding Website of Jena Swanson and Ryan Karg
Question

Can I bring a plus one?

Answer

We recommend checking your invite for your +1 information! If you have any other questions please reach out!

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please RSVP by July 1st as Jena will be away at Army field training for the month of July. This will allow us to have an accurate headcount early for our wonderful vendors. :)

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

We’re having a fun black tie optional event—think tuxedos or cocktail dresses. It’s a formal dress code, but feel free to express your own style! If you wanna join in on the vibe, our colors include black, merlot and lots of green :)

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

We love kids and are happy to include them in the celebration where space allows! If your little ones are invited, their names will be included on your Save the Date and invitation. If you’re not sure, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to clarify!

Question

When should we book lodging and accommodations?

Answer

Since the wedding will take place over Labor Day weekend we suggest booking as early as you are able! The Black Hills are an outdoor hub for activities like camping and boating so hotels and lodging book quick!

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

We invite you to be fully present during our ceremony by keeping phones and cameras tucked away. Once cocktail hour begins, feel free to capture and share all the joyful moments of our celebration!

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Welcome to South Dakota, out-of-towners! September in Spearfish is usually beautiful, with sunny days and daytime temperatures around 70–80°F. That said, evenings can get quite cool—sometimes dipping into the 40s or 50s—so be sure to pack a jacket or some warm layers to stay comfortable after sunset.

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

There is plenty of free parking at the Barn!

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors, but our reception will be inside.

Question

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Answer

Since our ceremony is outdoors on some uneven terrain, we recommend comfortable shoes with sturdy soles. Flats, wedges, or dressy boots are great choices to help you navigate grass, gravel, or dirt paths without sinking or slipping. If you want to wear heels, consider bringing a backup pair for easier walking—stilettos aren’t the best fit for this setting!

Question

Whom should I call with questions?

Answer

Please call our lovely maid of honor Sam with question at 406-939-3115.
