Our travel restrictions change often and it is becoming easier to enter the country. Here are the latest guidelines: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid.
A. Vancouver has a great transit system, including a sky train to take you directly from the airport to downtown. Vancouver is also very walkable, and now has Uber (a little late… don't get us started). If you plan to travel outside of the city for hiking or to visit our beautiful Mountains, we recommend renting a car. Remember that our speed limits are considerably slower than those in the US and gas is priced by the litre.
A. You can, but we do not recommend it as must companies will not offer a favourable rate. Instead, your visa card will be accepted anywhere, and Amex will be accepted in most places. Remember to select "pay in USD" instead of "pay in CAD" when given the option as your bank's wholesale rate will almost always be better than the merchants. Note that cash is generally not needed. More currency questions? The bride and groom are finance nerds, feel free to reach out to us!
A. In Canada, we sign the required legal documents during the ceremony, not before or after. Please bear with us for some minor paperwork! Also, our first Dance is after dinner. Don't worry when we go right from cocktail hour to dinner - you haven't missed anything.
We are! That means we might have unexpected guests (and potentially a coyote or two) watching alongside you in the surrounding park. Vancouverites are a friendly bunch, but we have staff on hand just in case!
We recommend renting! Both the bride and groom have rented formal attire in the past with great success. Tuxedos: Generationtux.com and formal dresses and gowns: Renttherunway.com. Both have great options, ship right to your door, and will let you keep trying sizes until you get the right fit.
Vancouver's proximity to the ocean moderates our temperature. The average high in August is 72F / 22C with a 12% chance of rain. Please don't forget your rain jacket - there's a good reason our city is so lush and green, and it's not a great sprinkler system.
We hope that our wedding ceremony will be a peaceful break from the ever-increasing screen time in our lives. We ask that you put your phone away out during the ceremony. Of course, it's no problem if you're phone is out after that - we'd love to take a photo with you!
