Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport is only 3.5 miles from Alameda, about 21 miles from San Francisco, and 27 miles from Palo Alto. This airport is known to have good deals, especially with budget airlines.

San José Mineta International Airport is farther south, about 45 miles from the heart of San Francisco. It is great if you want to go to Silicon Valley. It's just 16 miles from Palo Alto, and 36 miles to Alameda. Both international and domestic flights are offered here, and you may find fewer crowds than at San Francisco International Airport.
