Things To Do

Cafe Jolie

1500 Webster Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Our favorite brunch spot--West End. Convenient for those staying at the Hawthorne Suites.

Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden

1223 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Coffee, tea, sweets and some bites on the East End.

Cholita Linda

1337 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Cuban inspired place, similar to Central American food. Great for tacos but everything else is yummy too. They have plantains and yucca fries, you're welcome.

La Penca Azul

1440 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Mexican spot, we like the enchiladas with mole poblano here. The chip dipping sauce is pretty good (and free).

SUSHI & MORE

1245 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Nice quality rolls, though options are limited (go to Hayashi or Yellowtail if you want more options). The tuna bowls are solid. They make good boba drinks as well -- go light on the sugar!

Nation's Giant Hamburgers & Great Pies

1432 Webster Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Hella good burgers and pies! West End.

1400 Bar & Grill

1400 Webster Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Karen's favorite pub style restaurant. There's an English guard standing outside, you can't miss it. Ecclectic menu, has a beer garden in the back.

Speisekammer

2424 Lincoln Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501

Our closest (and pretty good) German restaurant. The beer selection is authentic, grab a pint in the biergarten!

Faction Brewing

2501 Monarch Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Local brewery with SF views. Check out St. George's spirits if you're into liquor. Almanac is another nice brewery.

Stacked Adventures

190 Central Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501

If you'd like to rent a kayak or SUP B-D!

Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach

Otis Drive, Alameda, CA 94501

Our local beach! You can have a picnic and take in the sun, perfect temperature to sun bathe in the summer. The water is at its warmest temperature between 3-5pm (according to Karen).

Alameda Theatre & Cineplex

2317 Central Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501

Historical Theater, very cool to see even if you're not watching a movie. Have a look at the human size dolls from the big flicks.

Subpar Miniature Golf Alameda

1600 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Besides mini golf, there's also an arcade, pool tables, laser maze, and food/drinks.

D20 Games

1502 Park Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Nice shop for board games and accesories (die, cards): D20 reopened under new management in August 2011 with a focus on "games that don't go beep", like tabletop roleplaying games, trading card games, and board games, all carefully curated by our wonderful staff. Since then we've become one of the Bay Area's go-to spots for all of the above, solidifying our role in our local community.
