The new date of our wedding celebration is February 26, 2022.
Yes please, let us know if you are still coming. We understand if you may not be able to make it but we still want to know.
You should RSVP by December 31 and we prefer you do it directly on this website.
When traveling to Perú, you will need to have a negative molecular COVID test result (RT-PCR) within 72 hours prior to your flight departure if you are not fully vaccinated. Even if you are fully vaccinated, we recommend getting tested before you leave. In addition, you will have to present proof of vaccination and a negative test one day before your return flight to the U.S. You should bring proof of vaccination to enter indoor places and plenty of masks since you are required to wear a double mask or KN95 mask in public spaces in Perú.
Yes, we will provide transportation from the hotel to the ceremony and to the reception. See the "Hotel & Transportation" section for more details.
Traffic in Lima is often very congested, so we DO NOT recommend renting a car. If you will be staying in and around Lima, we recommend that you avoid taking cabs that are in the street. Uber is ok but we have safer taxi companies that do background checks on their drivers, so we highly recommend these instead. Download the app "Taxi Directo" or "Taxi Satelital" and use these apps instead of Uber. Both of these offer payment in Soles or by credit card. DO NOT hail a taxi from the street.
In late February, temperatures will be consistently in the high 70s during the day and stay in the high 60s or low 70s at night. While it may be cloudy, it rarely rains in Lima. Note: If you are traveling outside Lima to other parts of Perú, particularly Machu Picchu and the Andes, this will vary greatly.
The Peruvian currency is Soles (PEN). However, the U.S. Dollar is the secondary currency and is accepted in major establishments around the country. As of December 2021, the exchange rate of Dollars to Soles is very favorable. If you want to exchange Dollars for Soles (or visa versa), we recommend asking the hotel. Alternatively, for a better rate, you can seek out official currency exchangers or "cambistas" who wear local government vests outside banks or in public parks. Exercise caution when carrying large amounts of money.
"Propina" or tip is generally expected to be around 10%. If you want to provide additional tip for exceptional service, that is encouraged.
Around the tourist areas of Perú, you may get by with English, but if you need to communicate with locals, here are some key phrases: Buenos Días/Buenas Tardes/Buenas Noches = Good Morning/Good Afternoon/Good Evening Que Tengas Un Buen Día = Have a Nice Day Buen Provecho = Have a Good Meal La Cuenta, Por Favor = Check, Please ¿Cuánto Cuesta? = How Much Does That Cost? ¿Qué Tal? = How Are You? (informal)
For any emergencies and questions during the wedding week, please contact our wedding planner, Carla Munoz via email or WhatsApp: carlamunozwp@gmail.com +51 983 986 553
WhatsApp is the perfect app for messaging and sharing pictures with the couple. It is easy to use, only requires Wi-Fi and everyone in South America uses it. If you do not already have it, we recommend downloading it before you leave.
You should wear formal attire Women: Elegant Long Dress Men: Suit and Tie or Tux
The ceremony will take place indoors at the church. The reception will be outdoors but under a tent. However, be prepared for warm weather as February is considered the peak of summer.
After the ceremony, the couple will be taking pictures nearby for around an hour. Guests will be directed to transportation outside the church and head straight to the reception where we will be serving appetizers and beverages. While waiting for the couple, please take a photo and place it in our guest book with a personal message.
We do not recommend parking at either the church or reception venue. Please use the transportation provided to get to each location. A car service will be arranged to bring you home at the end of the party.
The food will be a buffet of Peruvian Cuisine, which will include some vegetarian options. This will be available for you in the early part of the evening. There will also be a table of cheeses and fruits and another table full of desserts.
Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures on their social media channels. Our only request is that you tag us on each photo as @karenjahncke and @seanmadden89 with our wedding hashtag #karenysean so we can see all the pictures of our special day!
Yes, you can get a sim card at the airport. You can also get a sim card with a more affordable data/phone plan at any of the WONG supermarkets in Miraflores. Many carriers will also offer an international roaming plan you can set up before you leave and signal is generally good in and around Lima.
