Flight

Getting In

Fly into either Cancun International Airport (more popular option) or Tulum International Airport. They are both about an hour away from the wedding venue. Alden and I will be arriving on the 18th of December and departing on 26th of December.

Rental Car

Getting Around

Taxi - It's the most convenient and economical option for getting to / from the airport and around the city. More details to come. Rental Car - We do not recommend renting a car in Mexico as online rates do not reflect the final rates. However, if you prefer the flexibility and want to rent a car, you can reserve one online via Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, National, Thrifty or Fox and pick it up at the airport. Make sure to pay attention to Automatic vs. Manual transmission when reserving. Driving in Mexico is a little like driving in India. There are often no marked lanes so you just have to vibe with the cars around you :)

Barceló Maya - How to book

There are multiple ways to book: 1. Via email / phone: Since we are a big group, we get a discount. Contact Eli Aguilón at email: sac7.op2@barcelo.com or phone: +1 (800) 227 2356 and tell him you are joining Alden Fernandes’s group. Based on the resort, room type, dates, and guest details (ages), he will provide you with a quote. You may then book directly with him over the phone or via email. You can also provide me with the information and I can request a quote for you. You will still have to contact Eli to make the payment. The discount is about 10% of the website price. If you have trouble contacting Eli, let me know. 2. Via website: We don't have a website group code, however, if you sign up for myBarcelo (their rewards program), you get member rates, and they send you promo codes from time to time. Whether you book via the website or with Eli, they take 50% of the reservation cost at the time of booking and the other 50% at the time of check-in. Reservations are 100% non-refundable and non-transferable. If you prefer to book a cancellable / refundable room, we have seen these options available on websites like Priceline and Expedia but they are slightly more expensive than the hotel website due to the flexible cancellation policy. As Christmas season is popular in Mexico, prices are expected to keep rising. We recommend booking as soon as you are able to.
