While Jackson might not remember this, Kara and Jackson met freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill. However, they really got to know each other in an English class focused on dystopian and science fiction novels. Kara purposely sat next to Jackson because he was the cutest boy in class. Over the semester, they were each other’s discussion buddies, talking about topics covered in the class. After that, they were mere acquaintances, saying hello when passing each other on campus or bumping into each other in a bar. After graduation, Kara and a few friends decided to go to Wilmington, NC for the weekend for some much needed beach time! When Kara and her friends walked into Neptune's, the first person they saw was Jackson. Jackson pointed at Kara right away and said “I know you!” That night, they got to talking and they realized that Jackson was moving in with friends Kara knew in Raleigh. Kara offered for Jackson to get her number from their friends if he wanted to hang out. Of course, Jackson said “Or you could give me your number.” He also did the limbo to show off, very on brand for him. The next weekend they did hang out in Raleigh, and really the rest in history! Since then, Kara and Jackson have visited Charleston, Hilton Head, California, Florida, DC, Mexico, Washington, and Disney (one too many times) together. They have enjoyed trying new foods and taking in all the sights the world has to offer. In July 2024, Jackson and Kara took a trip to Wilmington for the 4th of July. Now, Kara is notorious for searching for presents and yes, she did find the ring box beforehand (but SHE DID NOT PEAK). Kara knew Jackson had the ring in the suitcase during this trip, but told herself “No way he is proposing this week.” However, Jackson had concocted a plan with their friends to set up a fake photoshoot. They told Kara to get dressed up for everyone to take sunset pictures at the beach. Kara just “happened” to have a white dress to wear to this occasion. They all started taking pictures, starting with Kara and Jackson. When Kara thought they were done, Jackson told her to wait. Of course, Kara’s response was “No you’re not!” Jackson got down on one knee, and asked Kara to marry him with tears in his eyes. Of course, Kara said yes and very quickly put that beautiful ring on! They will never forget being surrounded by so many friends during that special moment and the memories they shared celebrating that night at Buzz’s Roost (if you know you know).
