Wat Padhammachart, a Thai temple located at 14036 Don Julian Rd, La Puente, CA 91746. "Wat" in Thai means temple, and this one is named after mother nature. Many Thai temples are named after the jungle or contain the word "jungle" (in Thai, "wat pa" or "วัดป่า") because historically, temples were often located in remote forest areas. These forest temples served as places for monks to retreat into seclusion for meditation and spiritual practice. The dense jungle surroundings provided a tranquil and serene environment conducive to deep meditation and contemplation. Wat Padhammachart continues this naming tradition.
Yes, the groom is not either! As long as you are comfortable, loved ones with any religious background are welcome and can join in the festivities. Although there are religious elements in the ceremony as we are receiving blessings from the monks, the Thai Water Blessing ceremony is cultural and can be participated in by everyone. If you wish to avoid religious ceremony, you may join starting from the water blessing onwards.
Traditional Thai Weddings often start early in the morning sometimes as early as 6 AM. Since the ceremony is often centered around a Buddhist ceremony, it must be completed before noon so the monks can return to their monastery. Also, monks will only feast once a day and will fast for the rest of the day. Therefore, food offerings will usually be done late in the morning.
Since the event is on temple grounds, we will not be serving alcohol out of respect.
Our dress code is dressy-causal but we'd love for our guests to wear anything traditional from their culture (or Thai if you can!). Since it's a Buddhist temple, we ask that you wear appropriate clothing that would cover up your shoulders and knees. Incorporate a shawl if you want to wear a sundress to the reception! Please avoid wearing black as it's associated with funeral in Thai culture.
Kids are welcome! However, please keep in mind the temple will not have highchairs available during the lunch reception.
Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. While a gift is not necessary, if you wish to give, a monetary gift that we can save towards our future family, we'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Yes, there is one parking lot at the temple. Should the lot become full, there are plenty of street parking as well. The ceremony and reception will take place at the same location.
Please check your RSVP if the option is available to you or contact the bride to let her know you'd like a plus one. They are welcome if space allows.
