The Beginning

1993

In 1993, when Kalynn was just one year old, a new family moved into her neighborhood. That family was the Newmans. Kalynn and Ian went on many a play date, and Ian was the only guest her age invited to her 2nd birthday party. At the time, they had no idea that they would be lucky enough to stay friends over the years, or that it would eventually become so much more. Over the years, their parents joked many times the the two would grow up to get married. Little did they know....

Growing Up

The two stayed close throughout their school years, even attending the same homeschool co-op group. When the time came to participate in the time-honored southern tradition of learning to dance and conduct oneself properly (meaning learning a firm handshake and letting your parents watch you attend a cotillion dance once a year after months of practicing the foxtrot) Kalynn and Ian became dance partners at Social in Augusta, GA. Tragically, Ian moved away just as Kalynn was starting high school, but with the advent of cell phones, they managed to stay in touch nonetheless. From late night phone calls to the occasional trip to meet up at Pizza Joint or Carowinds, they refused to let distance truly keep them apart.

The Proposal

2018-Present

After drifting apart for a few years, Ian eventually moved back to Georgia, and when Kalynn found herself in Augusta again, the two reconnected. After a month of talking on the phone and Facebook messenger, Ian drove up to watch the UGA vs. Florida game, but he had more than football on his mind. By the end of the day, the two were in a relationship, and thus began the happiest time in either of their lives. After a few months of dating, they began to talk about marriage. One weekend Kalynn was visiting Ian in Savannah, and woke up to find a letter from him. She was informed that his mother and sisters were kidnapping her for the day, and that she would be asked a very important question when all was said and done. What followed was a long day of letters, clues, and some pampering, all before finally being able to make it official that she would be marrying her best friend and the love of her life.
