YES! Check to see if your passport is VALID and not EXPIRED. To be safe, renew your passport if it expires within the 6 month window of the wedding. You will need it to arrive in Mexico.
We recommend booking a hotel on the beach in the Tulum Hotel Zone. It is the most convenient for all things that are planned. Please see the "Travel + Stay" tab for our recommendations of where to stay! We've stayed in the Aldea Zama area halfway between town and the beach which was nice, but traffic can be tough since the beach road is just a two lane dirt road. Also, it's important to know that most of the beaches in Tulum are private so you will not have an easy time finding a beach to go to unless you pay to get into a beach club. It is worth the extra money to stay on the beach at a hotel in our opinion and will make your planning more convenient! Tulum is also known for it's smaller feel - therefore a lot of the hotels are more boutique style. Think less rooms, less guests, better experience. So if you see a place you like, book it!
Walking (on the beach or on the main road), there are bike or scooter rentals that are very popular and taxis are available! There is NO Uber in Tulum and we personally feel that they jack up the taxi prices - hence why we will be working with a private company for all of our guests to have driver options!
For our big day we ask that you step it up a notch and wear something more formal! We will have the rest of the trip to lean into the casual beachy vibes. A mix between formal and cocktail attire is great! "Cocktail attire" refers to a semi-formal dress code, meaning you should dress up nicely but not as formally as a black-tie event; a balance between elegance and comfort while still looking polished and put together! Have fun with patterns, colors, textures :) Ladies: A cocktail dress, a midi or maxi/long dress would be perfect! Guys: We recommend a suit or dress pants & a jacket. Ties optional! PLEASE SEE "Our Photos" section for attire moodboards! **no shorts** as the day goes on, no shoes- no problem :) The ceremony + reception will be held on the beach and dinner will be served in an open air "indoor" space.
We are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. If you received a +1, their name will appear with your name when you RSVP. Thank you so much for understanding!
We love and adore your little ones, however, we have decided to keep our ceremony and reception as adults-only. We encourage you to use this as a fun vacation away to relax and unwind! We know what goes into making prior arrangements for this to work and we are greatly appreciative of this in order celebrate with us - it means the world!
If you do not RSVP by Feb. 1 2025, you will be marked as "not attending". We would love to celebrate with you, however, we have to provide an exact guest count to our vendors for food, drink and seating and cannot accommodate late RSVPs.
If you are interested in celebrating with a gift, we ask that you do not bring it with you to Mexico, due to the international travel rules/claims + no one needs extra baggage weight! Please refer to our registry tab on our site if interested and the option to ship it to us will be included.
We recommend that you arrive at least 20-30 minutes before our 5:30pm ceremony time. This gives us enough time to be on schedule!
We are working on finalizing the company we are going to recommend for this. Even if the venue is a close walk, we don't want guests feeling like that is the only option as we know no one needs to work up a sweat getting to the venue. We plan to use Zorba as "home base" - so we would like all guests to meet at Zorba for the shuttles to the ceremony. We will be sending you text updates as the date approaches for Shuttle Times. If getting to Zorba is not easy for you and it is easier to get to Alquimia - please let Kallie or Will know ASAP. Stay tuned! Most bars, restaurants, and stores accept credit cards! However, you should carry cash for things like taxis, smaller purchases and tips. We recommend exchanging money ahead of time through your bank, but there are ATMs available in Tulum if needed. *Remember to alert your Credit Card company that you are traveling internationally*
The current exchange rate is ~17 MXN pesos = $1 US Dollar
Tulum has the lowest crime rate in all of Mexico. The locals understand how much tourism boosts their economy and are very welcoming to travelers! Of course, you should exercise common sense when traveling in the Tulum area: lock your doors, keep your passport in a safe, be mindful of your valuables, etc. Basically be smart and use common sense.
Yes! Well, mostly yes. Majority of taxi drivers, concierge, waiters and bartenders all speak English. Everyone we encountered on our trips to Tulum have been incredibly friendly, welcoming, accommodating and generally delightful. They know the beauty their town has to offer and they are happy to share it with us. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on your Spanish greetings and responses!
