We met online actually! At the time Matt was working nights, and I was working days, so it was hard to find a day that worked for the both of us. Finally, after a couple weeks of planning we were able to find a night that worked! Bru Burger it was! He was late (per usual) and I remember the hostess saying "uh oh.. late for the first date?" but the second we locked eyes, the time didn't matter. We sat at one of the high tops in the bar area. Matt bet me that I couldn't finish my whole burger and that was the first of many times I showed him up. As the conversations continued, we soon realized how much we had in common and were already planning the next time we could see each other! The date ended with an awkward hug, and our next date planned.
We were attending my very first Notre Dame game; and after the game, Matt, his mom, his sister Brooke, her Fiance Dan, his sister Stephanie, her boyfriend Shane, and I were all sight seeing around campus. We were taking photos in front of all the beautiful buildings and statues. We arrived to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and Matt asked if I wanted to take a picture so of course I said yes. When I looked up, I saw everyone taking a picture of us (still didn't think anything of it because we all had been taking pictures this entire time.) I proceeded to say "what is this paparazzi?!" Right after we walked across the grass to St. Mary's Lake to get a photo. Matt then looks at me and asked “You love me right?” “Yes” i replied. Then “Will you love me forever?” and proceeded to get down on one knee. I nearly blacked out, hugged him, and said "YES!” and we were engaged! After he proposed, we then went to the book store to get a warm coffee. When the barista handed me my coffee I couldn't believe my eyes. The sleeve on my cup said "we found your better half” It could not have been more perfect. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. See you at the beach!
