We're embracing a Casual to Dressy Casual aesthetic with a Mountain Chic vibe—think Country Western inspired. Since our ceremony takes place in the stunning setting of Glacier National Park in Montana, we encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. While there's no strenuous hiking involved, the park setting does call for practical footwear. We recommend comfortable shoes and suggest staying mindful of the terrain as you move about. Our early autumn celebration will feature typical mountain weather, with daytime highs in the 60s to low 70s and mornings and evenings dipping into the 30s to 40s—or even cooler. Layering is your friend! Dress in a way that lets you enjoy the day fully.
We're thrilled to celebrate with our loved ones and want to create a relaxed, intimate atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. To that end, we've decided to make our wedding an adults-only occasion, with the exception of our bridal party. We kindly ask that children not attend this special day.
Directions: Enter Glacier National Park at the West Entrance. This is the entrance near Lake McDonald and Apgar Village. Drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road. Continue east for about 14–15 miles, enjoying the most iconic road in the park! Look for Avalanche Creek / Trail of the Cedars signage. The amphitheater is located near the Avalanche Lake Trailhead, just a short walk from the road. Walk to the ceremony site. From the parking area, it’s an easy, accessible walk to the amphitheater along a well-maintained boardwalk. Here’s a Google map pin to copy and paste into maps: 48.678362, -113.817253 Cell service is extremely limited and/or non-existent for most of the Park, so guests are encouraged to be prepared ahead of the drive.
Yes. This is an entrance fee for all persons traveling in a single, private, non-commercial vehicle. If you enter the park in a motorized vehicle, your entrance pass covers both you and your passengers. Your passengers do not need a separate pass. The pass is good for seven days and is non-transferable. Visitors can enter the park at any time, if the entrance station is not staffed, a self-registration area is available for purchasing a 7-day park pass. You can purchase online as well. The park does not accept cash. https://www.nps.gov/glac/planyourvisit/fees.htm
Our ceremony begins at 2:00 pm. While there's no need to arrive particularly early, you're welcome to come ahead of time if you'd like to explore the venue. Please note that Avalanche Amphitheater is approximately one hour from Whitefish, so we recommend planning your travel time accordingly.
Ceremony: Parking for the ceremony is located on the west side of Going-to-the-Sun Road, near Avalanche Campground. The main lot is small, but the nearby Avalanche Picnic Area often has spots. While parking can be tricky, the turn-around time for spots is usually pretty quick. Carpooling is highly encouraged. Shuttle Alternative: Park at the Apgar Visitor Center and take the free park shuttle. OR If full, options include parking at Lake McDonald Lodge and using the shuttle. Reception: The Patio has a parking lot (30 spaces attached and additional parking across Wisconsin Ave.)
While the Ceremony will take place in Glacier National Park, the couple is staying in Whitefish. We encourage those attending to consider sites such as Airbnb and Vrbo for booking their stay. There are various hotels and lodges, such as the Whitefish Mountain Resort, Lodge at Whitefish, Whitefish Riverfront Hotel, and more should these better fit your needs. There are accommodations within Glacier National Park, however their booking season closes in early due to potential inclement weather. You can visit their website for further info https://www.glaciernationalparklodges.com/lodging/ There are other hotels and accommodations in surroundings towns of Flathead Lake such as Kalispell, Bigfork, and Polson.
