Nick and I first met in the summer of 2017 at Bowers Mansion Pool, where we were both working as lifeguards. I thought he was cute and kind and would change the schedule so we would be on break at the same time and could talk. After a few weeks of getting to know each other, Nick asked if I wanted to hang out sometime, to which I told him he could take me on a date that Saturday. Our first date began with dinner and was supposed to end with a movie, but we missed the show and decided to take a walk along the river in downtown Reno instead. Too afraid to disagree with me about directions, Nick followed my lead for seven miles as I managed to get us completely lost. My feet were bleeding from the cheap drugstore flip-flops I’d bought to change out of my heels, and I’d missed my curfew. We ended up calling Nick’s dad to pick us up outside the Aces' Stadium. It wasn’t the date either of us had planned, but it turned into one of our favorite memories. Almost eight years later, we went for another walk downtown (we didn't get lost this time). Instead, in that very same spot outside the Aces' Stadium, Nick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We have been each other's source of love, and laughter, always balancing one another. I am forever grateful that a summer job led me to my best friend- and now, we get to spend the rest of our lives together.
