We first met in high school in February 2017 during physics class, where we really started to connect after a couple of friends introduced us. Even though we had been in classes together before, this was when we really got to know each other. We hit it off right away, but weren’t sure if the other person felt the same. Then, on Valentine’s Day 2017, Anthony showed up with a bouquet of red roses, letting us both know how we felt. We started dating on February 17th, 2017, and have been together ever since.
One weekend, while visiting Anthony at the University of Florida, we were trying to figure out what to do on Sunday before I had to head back to Orlando. After some brainstorming, we decided to check out a Buddhist temple with 50-foot Buddha statues, thinking it would be super cool. We also planned to take pictures with the statues, so Anthony brought a tripod along. When we got there, we stood in front of one of the Buddha statues while Anthony set up the tripod. I, on the other hand, was complaining about how hot it was and how long he was taking (hey, I didn’t know what was coming!). As Anthony finished setting up and came back to take a "picture," he looked up at the statue and said how beautiful it was. I glanced up too, and before I knew it, Anthony was down on one knee, proposing! We celebrated afterward with a meal at our favorite spot in Gainesville, Dragonfly.
