They first met in 2011, the summer before their junior year of high school. Kaitlyn caught Peyton's eye the first time she and her family visited his hometown church. According to him it was her hot pink tights that caught his attention, but with Peyton being shy, not much was ever said. Fast forward a few months, prom season was approaching and Peyton knew he wanted to take Kaitlyn as his date. With the help of a friend, the promposal was a success and the two of them have been together ever since.
Long distance is not fun, especially when you become used to seeing your best friend almost every day in college. So, when Peyton found out Kaitlyn was coming home for the weekend from Atlanta, he decided it was the perfect time to ask the question. They started out the day by going on a nice date to Arrington Vineyards. It was a beautiful day, but when he didn't pop the question there, Kaitlyn was convinced it wasn't happening that weekend. On the way home, Peyton told her that he wanted to show her something at a park we used to go to back in high school. Little did Kaitlyn know, Peyton with much help, had placed 10 signs along the path that had different reasons of what he loved about her. When they got to the end of the path, near the creek, he had her find a wooden box his brother Josh had hand carved. In it was the ring! Kaitlyn doesn't remember anything he said after that. All she could do was cry, give him the biggest hug, and say yes! Afterwards, their families were waiting for them outside the trail at a pavilion to celebrate. It was perfect.
